Gears for Projects
I have introduced a collection of gears, so that you can use them for your own projects
There are 30 gears in the collection, they start with 8 teeth and continue in the preferred series up to 100 teeth. They are all developed from the tooth profiles used to run the Woodenclocks, so for slow running applications like Automata they are ideal..The gears can be cut from any material and any thickness, using the DXF files provided. The gears can of course be scaled as well to suit your needs, but do work out the centre distance between the mating gears at the original size first, and then scale the gears and the centre distance.
You can download the DXF and PDF files for the gears on the download page for $10.
You can download print restricted version of the PDF file here.
Drawings for these gears in unrestricted PDF format can be downloaded here, they are drawn to scale so that they can be printed at full size on either A3 or Super B papers. I realise that not everyone has access to these large format printers so there is a way of printing out smaller area’s at full size standard paper sizes using Acrobat Reader. The procedure for doing this is shown here.
