Clock 2

This design is a free standing clock that requires a shelf with a gap beneath to allow the pendulum and the weights to hang through. One of the idiosyncrasies of this design (and Clock 1) is that the second hand turns backwards.I never set out to design the clock with this feature, but in an attempt to enhance the visual impact of the skeletal form I introduced an extra gear train. There were three consequences to this, firstly the gear ratio’s becam less extreme, the second hand turns backwards, and thirdly , it simply looks better.

One of the rendered images below shows what the clock would look like if it was manufactured from perespex, A feature of this clock is a perspex dial that can have the numerals attached.
The construction of the clock is similar in complexity to that of Clock 1.
